Leila,
I'm sorry to have to tell you this. That book is horrible. THe first one was ok, dispite its moralizing. But this one is uninspired and heavy handed.
even though it has a hotdog.

Lies. All lies. I'll wait for Lauren's review, since she actually liked the first one.

Moralizing? Continue to bite me.
But sadly, I have to quietly agree about the 2nd book. I just don't like it. The first was so inspired and funny and cool, and you could actually picture actual kids getting into it. Hot dog starts out with such a great concept (the title) and then goes nowhere, and then, duh, they share. Also, it uses one of my least favorite popular expressions "tastes like chicken" which is even worse in a book featuring birds.
Now for something I do like, featuring birds... there's this Bud Light commercial they keep showing during the Super Bowl of Baseball where this window washer is making windows so clean that birds and frat guys think there's no glass. And in the window of the (presumed) pet store, there are tons of tiny gorgeous parakeets. HOORAY FOR PARAKEETS!

Yeah, but shades of cannibalism--that's always great in a picture book.
I continue to reserve judgement, even though you're probably right.

I take it back. I just read it, and I really liked it. A lot. And laughed a ton. So there.
Part of it is that I love the pictures so much.

Well, you're wrong, but I'm glad. I'm so sad that I don't like that book. I hate to even have to admit it out loud because it pains me so much.
Much easier to say is, I don't think I like the Weakerthans. The lyrics are good, but...

I thought the duckling was a riot--he was such a little shit!
